One Week – 25.6% Average Gains

Earlier this week, Christian DeHaemer recommended
that you take positions in Lucent (LU:NYSE), Nortel (NT:NYSE),
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD:NYSE), Akamai
Technologies (AKAM:NASDAQ), and Ciena
(CIEN:NASDAQ). Less than four days later,
investors are already sitting on a nice 25.6%
average gain. Not bad at all. Continue holding
for more gains.
For those of you that decided to hold our 99
Cents Only Stores (NDN:NYSE) position despite
our sell recommendation, you’re now sitting
on a nice 35% gain in less than two months.
Just the other day, NDN posted net income of
US$13.3 million for the quarter, an 18.8% improvement
over the US$11.2 million posted in Q3 2001.
EPS came in at US$0.19 compared to the US$0.18
posted one year earlier. Total sales were up
19.6% to US$172.3 million compared to net sales
of US$144.0 million in the third quarter of
2001. And retail sales were US$160.4 million,
up 22.6% from sales of US$130.8 million in 2001.
Not bad at all. Our other dollar store play,
Dollar General (DG:NYSE), is also a hold.
The company just announced that it is still
expecting total sales for the four-week period
ending in October to jump 11% to 14%, with same-store
sales growth of 3% to 5%.
