DG - the place to be
by Ian
L. Cooper
Regardless of the market’s lack of direction, we continue
to find the diamonds in muck. Take our dollar discount
store recommendations on Dollar General (DG:NYSE)
and the 99 Cents Only Stores (NDN:NYSE), up 11%
and 15%, respectively. With economic steam running out,
consumers aren’t going to want to spend mucho dinero on
products that they can get on the cheap at a dollar discount
store.
Stores like DG just feel right. Unlike DG’s major competition,
it continues to post strong monthly same-store sales
gains and has plans to expand its stores by at least
10% annually. The stage is definitely being set for
serious earnings growth looking forward. DG is also
expanding into the grocery market, which should draw
in more traffic and profits. Continue holding DG and
NDN for the long haul.
