"Politically Correct" Mouse Traps
Scientists at Rentokil Initial, a UK pest controlling company, have designed a self checking mousetrap that can send a warning signal to a base miles away whenever a rodent is caught. The trap contains two infrared beams. Once a mouse enters the trap and breaks both beams, a trapdoor is released and a signal is sent to a control room notifying someone of the mouse. If required the trap can even send a fax to your local pest controller to come buy and dispose of the unwanted visitor.
According to Rentokil, this automated trap is more humane. The system continually checks the trap whereas a person would only be able to check the trap occasionally throughout the day.
